Change Your Mindset – Change Your Life, With 9 of My Favorite Quotes
What if feeling your best had more to do with the way you think than just about doing more, more, more? With new health trends and promises consistently making their debuts on the internet, I feel like sometimes we forget that our most important asset is our mindset in our own unique health and wellness journeys.
There are many pieces that go into the puzzle of your health and wellness – nutrition, routines, exercise, steps, rest, and more. Above all, it truly comes down to the way you approach these pieces and challenges of life, and your outlook on them, that ultimately determines the sustainability of your plan.
I’ve dove so much deeper into my self development era in this last year and I can’t wait to continue as we approach a new year. As the Pinterest algorithm expertly works, quote after quote floods my feed since I realized I was subconsciously customizing what I surround myself with on my socials. Quotes like these have been the best reminders in times of need, helping me:
- Stay grounded – solid reminders for when I’m spiraling or upset
- Make better decisions – remember how I want to perceive myself and be perceived
- Build self confidence – good news is, this can indeed be built!
- Reflect – learning how my emotions arise in response to given situations
Each of these can serve as a reminder for different situations, helping you positively train your brain’s way of thinking and processing.
Mindset changes don’t always happen easily, and they take effort on your part to make a lasting effect. Read each of these quotes and observe the immediate thoughts that come up. Take it a step further and use these daily in writing as journal affirmations, mirror notes, or as verbal or mental reminders.

1. The fast way is the slow way; the slow way is the only way.
Delayed gratification > quick fixes. Before spontaneously committing to what is appealing in the moment, consider how it may be aligned with your goals and how it will make you feel later, such as eating three slices of pizza instead of maybe two slices and a salad. Think about your goals long-term rather than in just the short.

2. Avoiding a task takes as much mental energy as doing it.
Exhibiting avoidant and procrastination behaviors causes extra mental strain. My personal action has been, if it takes under a minute to do, as some things often do, do it right then and there, without delay. Just because it’s easier to not do something in the moment doesn’t make it easier later on. It’s easy to skip your wellness routines, but it’s also easy to do them. So do them.

3. Slow motion is better than no motion.
As long as you’re moving, you’re moving, no matter the pace, and you will reach your destination and achieve your dreams in a lasting way. If you’re starting a business, chasing weight loss goals, anything, continuously showing up no matter the situation, no matter your mood, trains your brain into understanding that you CAN accomplish hard things.

4. Your next move matters more than your last mistake.
Skipping your routine once happens; twice is how chaos starts, and bad habits form.

5. You can’t experience the same “hard” twice.
Hard things are nothing more than just moments of your time. They can also only come to you one at a time. Our brains are capable of growing and adapting, and so with each new challenge, we grow and adapt in our ability to manage, too.

6. Nothing changes if nothing changes.
We are the creators of our reality. Don’t let the pain of monotony outweigh the pain of making a change. If you have a desire you’re chasing that’s so big that life is hardly worth living without it – no one is going to make it happen for you.

7. Today is the youngest you’ll ever be.
I don’t want to be wishing I started working towards my goals earlier on. There’s no better time for action than the present.

8. There’s no one else’s timeline to follow but your own.
Life experience is truly individual, and there is no set deadline for what you need to have accomplished at a given age. The important thing is that you keep moving, and remind yourself that it’s your life experience – comparison to others’ is damaging. Where you are or aren’t in life, doesn’t define or determine your future.

9. There’s a future where you’ll wonder why you were ever worried.
If things are extra heavy right now, I feel for you, but please know that there is a reality in alignment with you and your dreams. Staying on your path and leaning intuitively into your inner knowing are actionable steps in getting there.
Why Mindset is Underrated in Wellness
No matter how small or big or tough or easy your goals are – no part of them can be achieved without the right mindset. Goal setting is a big part of the battle, but so are judgment and discernment. Having a growth mindset allows you to persevere after making a mistake – and mistakes are inevitable in any journey. If you can shift your view of mistake-making or challenge as failure or unachievable to instead a learning and growing experience, you will enjoy the process much more.
Know that the sacrifices that may be involved in achieving your goals don’t have to equal disappointment or deprivation, either. Change your mindset, change your life.
